Homemade Play-Doh  

What you need:

1 cup of salt 1 cup of flour 1 cup of water Food coloring (optional)

What you do:

  1. Put the salt and flour in a deep unbreakable bowl.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients thoroughly by hand or a wooden spoon.  Slowly add water to which some drops of food coloring have been added.
  3. Continue to mix, then knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic without being sticky.  Dump the dough onto a flat floured surface and roll it out with a rolling pin. 
  4. Use cookie cutters to make shapes or provide child with other cutting and poking utensils.

Seal the play-doh in a sealed plastic bag or container for storage. It should keep for weeks.
